FAQs

We're here to help! Find answers to frequently asked questions below.

  • What should I bring?

Please bring grip socks and a water bottle. They are available to purchase at the studio. You can work out with bare feet, however, for hygiene reasons please use the provided wet wipes to wipe your feet before entering the exercise floor.

  • What is the cancellation policy?

We are a small independent studio and want to keep our prices affordable. Cancellation within 24 hours prior to class start time is non-refundable. Please ensure that you plan your sessions carefully and cancel before 24 hours by doing so on the system, give us a call or send us an email. Please contact us if you need to cancel under certain circumstances and we will try to accommodate the best we can.

  • What should I do before my class?

Please arrive five to ten minutes early. Avoid a heavy meal for at least ninety minutes beforehand. Bring water. Inform your instructor of any injuries, health conditions or areas of concern before the class.

  • Which session should I book when I have no Pilates experience?

We offer a one-off 1-1 introductory session for newcomers which involves time with our instructor to understand your fitness, any challenges and goals for Pilates. This is important to ensure you take the right path to build your strength and flexibility safely. The session involves an explanation of the apparatus and if time some initial key movements.

  • Is Pilates suitable if I have an injury or back pain?

Pilates is widely used in rehabilitation and is often recommended by physiotherapists and GPs for back pain and injury recovery. However, you should inform your instructor of any injury or medical condition before your first session. A one-to-one session is the safest starting point if you have a specific issue, as the programme can be built around your needs.

  • How often should I do Pilates?

Once a week is great, twice a week is ideal based on scientific studies of Pilates which identify gains in strength, flexibility and posture. As a low impact form of exercise, you can practice Pilates as often as you feel able. Consistency is key.

  • How quickly will I see results?

This depends on frequency, starting fitness level and what you are working toward. A commonly cited benchmark from Joseph Pilates himself is that you will feel a difference after ten sessions, see a difference after twenty, and notice a meaningful change in how you move after thirty. Our experience is that this is broadly true for clients who attend regularly, consistency is key.
